By BH in Bands

Having played alongside some of the greatest names in Blues including John Lee Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Canned Heat, the adage “six degrees of separation” certainly does not apply to world-renowned musician, Walter Trout. Strapped to an axe for 35 years, it is no wonder Trout’s roots are showing on his seventh U.S. release, “Relentless”. Fans and critics will no doubt agree that Walter Trout is now zero degrees away from the Blues greats. Continued…

From the moment Tommy Castro and his band began playing their distinctive blend of blues, soul, and rock, in and around the San Francisco Bay Area in 1991, fans and critics alike have been enthralled both by his exceptional song writing ability and his passionate performances. One of America’s leading blues publications, Blues Review, said, “Castro’s energy and charisma leap right out …” Musician Magazine said of the San Jose, California native, “Castro could be a star”, and Playboy gushed, “Worshipped for his guitar virtuosity, Castro throws a bit more rock and two bits of soul into his basic blues mix… He has the voice, the band and the guitar to pull it off.” Continued…

Born in Atlanta in 1957, Tinsley Ellis grew up in South Florida, where at age seven, he first picked up the guitar and absorbed the blues of British invasion groups like The Yard birds, Cream, The Rolling Stones and The Animals. Digging deeper into the heart of the music, he came under the direct influence of the original masters—legendary figures like Freddy King, B.B. Stoney Curtis Band

By BH in Bands

Curtis started the Stoney Curtis Band in 1994 with Charlie Glover on drums and Eric Mitchell. It is a blues-rock sound, big guitar with dazzling solos, ton of drums and driving bass. I have heard people say that Curtis and Charlie sound like they were born playing together. Sometimes their performance is so “on” you can see them smiling at each other on stage – the same smile, same thought – this is great, we are there now. Charlie was born and raised in South Central LA. Bassist, Colby Smith has been with the band for about three years. He rightly brags about the rhythm section of the Stoney Curtis Band being the best in Southern California. Continued…

Sean Chambers doesn’t merely play the guitar as much as he boldly attacks the instrument with a fluid ferocity and attitude that has gained the attention of the major guitar magazines worldwide. Chambers in fact, is a first class axe man in his own right. Combining reverence for tradition with his own special jolt of electricity, he has crafted a style that is truly his own. Continued…

At the age of 19, after hearing Jimi Hendrix for the very first time, Scott Holt started playing guitar, and soon found the Blues. One year later, his father took him to see legendary Blues artist, Buddy Guy, and his life was forever changed. Following a chance meeting backstage, and an impromptu guitar lesson, a friendship developed that would last a lifetime. At the age of 23, Scott joined the Buddy Guy Band and describes it as his “trip to the University”. After many years of touring the world with Buddy, and playing with artists such as Eric Clapton, and Carlos Santana, in 1999, the time had come to launch a solo career. Continued…

Ronnie is the son of blues rocking, Alligator Records recording star Lonnie Brooks. He first stepped on stage when he was nine years old, playing with Lonnie at Pepper’s Lounge in Chicago. Ronnie recalls, “Dad told me if I learned to play ‘Messin’ With the Kid’ and ‘Reconsider Baby,’ he would allow me to perform with him on stage to celebrate my birthday.” Ronnie did learn the songs, performed with his dad, captured the audience and was bitten by the blues bug. “That’s one birthday I’ll never forget!” says Ronnie.
