The Savoy Truffle
THE SAVOY TRUFFLE was formed in Osaka, Japan and started having lots of club gigging since the beginning. After a while, their shows became something of a big topic in Osaka club scene and the band quickly became very popular in Osaka area.
THE SAVOY TRUFFLE had their first US tour covered West Coast shows LA & San Francisco. They got a lot of positive feedback from many people and even from each clubs.
The Second US tour was highly demanded from each clubs and cities. The Savoy Truffle came back again to West Coast for the highly demand and went to Las Vegas to do a show. Their Second West Coast tour was a big success and they built their US fans.
They went to a studio to make their first album titled To the HIGHER GROUND in August. The Savoy Truffle got lots of positive feed back from many radio DJ's, radio listeners and even some label people. Some Japanese arena bands and payers got a respect of this album. In November, THE SAVOY TRUFFLE went to back to West Coast again. Many people came to see this band live and each club was packed. Some local papers in each area reviewed them live sounded great Southern Rock. Many people were amazed by their exciting performing live.
The Savoy Truffle went to a studio to make their Second Album. In August, their second studio album titled THE SAVOY TRUFFLE was out in Japan. Many Japanese music magazines picked up and reviewed this. They reviewed that this is a greatest rock album ever in Japan and that it sounds not like Japanese rock and it is totally American Southern Rock sounding and you might never believe that they are a Japanese band till you are told! In November, THE SAVOY TRUFFLE were invited to best SF Rick club, Club Coco to open for GILBY CLARK BAND, former Guns N Roses guitar player. The show was totally sold out and The Savoy Truffle totally rocked out those kids in the sold out club. Some fans rushed into cd shops to look for their cds. This was a big topic in SF music clubs and fans.
They opened for GOV'T MULE shows in both Tokyo and Osaka in April. They also opened for Moe in Osaka on September. Their third CD was out in November which is live album and titled "LIVE! ON OUR WAY". It's totally live album and no overdubs, no gimmicks, 100% live!! They wen to a Japan headline tour after this.
Their 3rd album reviewed on many magazines includes some international ones such as Sweden Rock magazine, Vintage Guitar magazines. They had mini tour includes Osaka, Yokohama, Kyoto, Nagoya and Tokyo. They performed for JAPAN BLUES CARNIVAL at Osakajo to open up for Otis Lush headlined which was an out door festival show in May. The Savoy Truffle also had a special gig for the closing ceremony of EAST ASIA SPORTS FESTIVAL at Nagai Football Stadium also in May. In June, The Savoy Truffle was invited to Shanghai, China to have six shows at club ARK in Shanghai. The following next month, The Savoy Truffle was also invited to Atlanta biggest outdoor festival called On The Bricks in Georgia. There were 60,000 people came to see the festival which was held in Centennial Park in down town, Atlanta. The Savoy Truffle opened up for Merveous 3 (Atlantic Recording Artist). They had a warm up gig a night before the ON THE BRICKS show at Nick Rock in Birmingham, Alabama. The Savoy Truffle got a great feedback from many kids to a few local radio stations and some labels in South.
They had recording session for their 4th album from January to March. They performed on SWEDEN ROCK FEST 2002 on June 6th. Their 4th album which is a studio one named "TAKE TO THE SKY AND FLY" released on26th June in Japan. Their 3rd CD named 'LIVE! ON OUR WAY' was released on August in Europe. They signed 2nd album named 'THE SAVOY TRUFFLE' with Blue BUFFALO Records in Germany on September. It was released the end of October in Europe. They nominated the best artist on French best Southern Rock magazine, BAND OF DIXIE's readers poll 2002 and their 4 th album TAKE TO THE SKY AND FLY is also nominated as the best album. What's more Ogasahara was nominated the best bass player and Sumitomo came in second in the best guitar player and Monji came in third on the best vocalist and Taizo came in second in the best drummer.
The Savoy Truffle performed a rock festival called 'SERIE Z'on August 29th in Spain. After that they performed in Barcelona,Madrid and Austria.After they came back to Japan,they had recording session for their new album,and they are going to release their barand new album titled' ROADHOUSE BOOGIE'on March 27th, 2004 in Japan.
THE SAVOY TRUFFLE is the boues rock band that respects soul, blues, and rock'n roll music. They are trying to surpass the bands that they admire most.
